This module explores the key knowledge, attitudes, and practical skills that help parents support children’s growth, safety, and emotional well-being.
Key content includes attachment and bonding, understanding babies’ cues and needs, encouraging language and emotional development, practising positive discipline, supporting children’s autonomy and confidence, building healthy routines around feeding, sleep, and hygiene, promoting safety and childproofing, supporting physical and emotional health, and managing co-parenting, shared responsibilities, and family dynamics.
Youth Workers will reflect on how supportive, calm, and non-judgmental environments can strengthen both parenting confidence and children’s well-being.
Learners will gain greater awareness of how early relationships shape child development, practical tools to support young parents in building trust, routines, and positive communication, and confidence in discussing parenting, safety, emotional regulation, and family dynamics with openness and sensitivity.
Question: How do young parents build strong relationships with their children while also managing daily routines, safety, and family responsibilities?
